The AKG WMS 40 wireless microphone is a non-diversity economy handheld system. Priced at around 100 Euros in Europe this unit gives the user a well rounded package for very little investment.

The package includes the handheld mike, which runs on a single AA battery (for up to 30 hours according to the manufacturer), and the mini sized transmitter unit. This sports a gain control, low battery led for the handheld mike and outputs in a TRS balanced connector which can be converter to XLR with the use of an appropriate adapter. Also included is an international voltage sensing power adapter.

We tested this microphone at a recent local function both with speech and backing vocals with good results and an acceptable quality. Range was tested up to around 20m away with ocalists, or other applications on a tight budget.
